The story, without spoilers

This companion collects information about the Young Bond world: characters, vehicles, weapons and locations, with photographs, maps and illustrations by Kev Walker. It also contains Higson's short story A Hard Man to Kill. The reading experience therefore combines reference material with an additional adventure.

It is not the sixth novel between By Royal Command and Shoot to Kill. Use it as a companion to the five Higson novels, returning to particular entries when you want to revisit a character or place rather than reading it as the next full-length mission.

Can I start here?

Read Higson's five novels first if you want their discoveries to remain surprises. The dossier is most useful afterwards, alongside the books it explains. It can also help an established reader revisit the series.

Who wrote it

Higson, a novelist and co-creator of The Fast Show, was commissioned for the Young Bond books before writing Danger Society: The Young Bond Dossier. His official Bond work covers both childhood adventures and adult missions.

This companion belongs beside Higson’s five Young Bond novels. Its guide material and the short story “A Hard Man to Kill” make it an extra after By Royal Command, rather than a sixth novel.
